Max and Onj, the owners of this warm and familiar establishment have worked in the service industry for years before starting Post Pike. When you come in this place, you get the sense of familiarity and warmth right off the bat. Grab a bite or a drink, stay or go. Either way you feel like you belong. You feel you at the right place at the right time.
When sitting sitting down and having multiple discussions on what we wanted for this piece with them. They wanted to capture a feeling, a sentiment of what the place is about, but also where it fits into the fabric of the neighborhood. Wanted to incorporate assets that are representative of the area, relevance and familiarity was key. Important to them, important for me to achieve.
They expressed liking a previous piece i’ve done for another local business. It contained a floral arrangement similar to the one done here, but with roses. I went with Rhododendrons for this composite seeing that we are trying to use local elements to the area. Those flowers are the WA state flower, so it seemed fitting.
Another ode to the area is the sandwich sign that adorns the front of the shirt. That was a last minute decision but paid off in terms of impact seeing that on the streets of Seattle, you can’t go a block walking without seeing a few of them in front of store fronts.
